Crown Counsel Michelle Wray, BC Prosecution Service Chilliwack

Staff Sergeant Grant Floris, Chilliwack RCMP

July 25, 2022

As many others, we are heartbroken by the murder of two women in Chilliwack by Eric John Shestalo, who is charged of assaulting and threatening his female partner (file # 72701).

We are outraged as these murders could have and should have been prevented. This violent man was arrested and released with no real measures in place to protect his victims and prevent him from following through on his threats.

Chilliwack police and crown believed the victim. The perpetrator was charged. Why wasn’t he kept in custody until his trial? Why was he given the freedom to kill the women?

We demand answers. We demand accountability.
